Enter your room size and we’ll estimate how many gallons of paint you need — including coats and door/window openings.
Estimate only. Coverage varies by paint, surface texture and color change (dark-to-light needs more). Primer and porous/new drywall increase paint use. Always check the can’s stated coverage.

How much paint do I need?
One gallon of interior paint covers roughly 350 square feet per coat. Most jobs need two coats, so a 12×12 room with 8 ft ceilings (about 384 sq ft of wall) usually takes about 2 gallons. New drywall or a big color change can push you toward a third coat or a separate primer.
| Room wall area | 1 coat | 2 coats |
|---|---|---|
| 200 sq ft | 1 gal | 1.5 gal |
| 400 sq ft | 1.5 gal | 2.5 gal |
| 600 sq ft | 2 gal | 3.5 gal |
